Great Times Call For Great Measures..
Hello,
About a week and a half has past since the last shows of our band. It has always been strange to me how some events that seem so distant on a calendar arrive so quickly and sweep right by. So there you have it. The end of an era. And what a beautiful era it was. Thanks again for the encouragement, love, and support over the 15-ish years of the 'balds existence. It is hard to say goodbye to something that has been part of half of my life, but all of us knew it was the time to put it to rest. We love what we have created, those who have enjoyed and helped in its creation, and each other. Our friends, the Weiss's, have put up some great photos of the last shows (as well as many years prior) on their blog at day19.com. check them out and celebrate the final moments of the 'bald. We are all involved in new projects and other ventures so please explore those also. Here are the ones i could think of: Luke has been shredding the drums with his fiance, Karen, in their band called Barnicle (www.mysapce.com/barnicle). Andy has been cooking up lots of tasty dishes at The Blue Room (www.theblueroom.net). Aaron has been converting diesels to run on waste vegetable oil as well as making some beautiful custom furniture (www.angelcitymotorworks.com and www.greasenotgas.com). And I have started my own musical outfit called The Was (www.myspace.com/thewasrules) as well as joining my friends, The Duke Spirit, as the keys player on some of their more recent US shows (www.dukespirit.com). Thanks again for all the wonderful memories. The last shows were a party and a celebration rather than a funeral. That is what the 'bald has always been about and that is the way we hope to be remembered.
Love on!

THE LAST SHOWS...
hello friends,
all the kids at camp 'bald have been practicing up a storm for the grand finale this weekend. i think there is just short of fifty different tunes that we will be playing during the last 3 shows. you will laugh, you will cry, you will dance! and we will too! ahhh, the almost fifteen year stint is coming to an end this weekend. we will miss all of you. i haven't made a post in quite some time, but i, like the rest of the 'bald have been busy with new life and new creations. somehow it didn't seem right to post until now. now we are all 'bald all the time and its our last chance to be so.
i have been staying at luke and karen's place in brighton taking in what seems to be the sights and sounds of a past life. i have been riding the t and going to mr. music daily. it is the birthing and stomping ground of many years of our existence. i have had so many good times there and continue to do so. and now i am in andover, with a full stomach, after mom's homemade dinner. i took the commuter rail out of north station, which was cluttered with canadians in canadiens shirts. i got off at ballardvale and walked the tracks to my 'rents house. today has been a good day. and its not even over yet.
so this bulletin is to say thank you to anyone who has come to see us play or helped us over the years. it has been a pleasurable experience to say the least. we have had ups and downs, but i wouldn't change a thing. life is good. piebald is great. thanks for everything. see you this weekend. all hugs, only hugs. we love you!

Karaoke participants for the final shows!!!

In case you haven't heard yet...we're organizing a karaoke set at our final shows that will include participants from the crowd. It's gonna rule! We're having people send in youtube audtion tapes to be a part of it.

Click here for all the details: BAMPF!

We've gotten some great video auditions so far but there's still a chance to be a part of it. The video auditions dont have to be crazy professional or anything...film them on your cell phone if need be. We'll be selecting all the performs on April 10th so you still have time.

Cheers,

heres the word...
hello friends,
the countdown has almost reached the end. and so many things have happened in the past three weeks. its been a great tour with fantastic bands who are now fantastic friends. we have had some great camping trips. we had to trade an andy for a jim (andy is working hard at the blue room in boston). and above everything else...we played some amazing shows. what a great three weeks ive had. and now...today...we have reached the final official show in englewood colorado. were going to make this a really good one. and i said official show because aaron and i and many guests will be playing in lehi utah on the following day at the festival where the format and limbeck will also be performing. sadly, we didnt even know we were to be playing that show until a few days ago, so luke and jim will already be on their way home, but aaron and i will do what we can to entertain.
so thank you for all your years of service and support and thanks for making the last many years of our lives exciting and rewarding. and like i said earlier, there will probably be a or some final show(s) to really cap it all off, but as of yet, no word on when or where. lets celebrate the past and get ready for the future. a really really really big hug from the 'bald to you. take care.

tour, tour, tour...
hello peeps,
so far the tour has been great fun. we have been playing our hearts out as the countdown continues. great bands, great comraderie, and great musicianship. its nice to go out on this note. thanks for all of your wonderful and heartbreaking comments. i have been brought to tears a few times in the past week from the things that people have been doing for us and the messages we have been getting. sorry to any and all fans that will not get to see us before we hang in the towel. this is just the right time for us to move on to new chapters in our lives. so, if you live in any of the cities were hitting up or you are a very motivated fan, come out...dance...move around...laugh...and rage with us one more time. see you on the road. peace out.

farewell...
Ladies and Gentleman, 8-19-07

Friends, friends, friends…we have not posted anything anywhere in quite some time and our word on the street is that this is our last tour. All the preceding words are true and we have decided to put Piebald to rest. The past fifteen years or so have been nothing short of extremely incredible. We have met lots of people, been to lots of places and experienced a whole lot of life. In 1994 we started making music, screenprinting our own seven inch covers and borrowing our parents cars to get to shows. Since then, we have traveled the globe, released many records, and played thousands of shows; pedaling the righteous name of piebald to all whose paths we crossed. In celebration of the many years of good times and incredible accomplishments, we have decided to dedicate this tour to us; Piebald. Thanks to all who have helped in any and every way…families, friends, girlfriends, vans, bands, fans, promoters, labels, booking agent, lawyer, clubs, engineers, producers, and those who we forgot to mention. Now, this is not a teary eyed time, people. This is a time of new beginnings, positive vibes, and a congratulatory nod to the past. There has been talk of a few shows to give the band an official sendoff, but as of yet, those shows are not booked and unknown. Thanks for all the undying support. We love you.

Sincerely,

Piebald

Luke, Andrew, Aaron, and Travis

to all dc-ites and otherwise...
hello,
i am here to apologize for missing the show last night at the rock and roll hotel in dc. we rarely miss shows, but van problems yesterday caused us to not make it. we have been having problems all tour but still have managed a way to make it to every show but yesterday. however, here is the good news...we will be back with the format sometime in august. we are playing the 930 club, so all you dc cats come out for that one. thanks for understanding. you all rule. next stop: THE BIG APPLE. take it easy.

hello, how are you?
we started a tour about a week ago. our old friends mewithoutyou, and new friends the snake the cross and the crown and the manchester orchestra. a thoroughly enjoyable lineup. im happy to be here. im sitting at a computer at a days inn in folsom, which is very close to orangevale; the location of the show last night. today we head to san francisco to play at slims. after an all night drive from portland to orangevale on friday night, it was nice to relax at the pool and watch the red sox destroy the yankees. and they even came from behind. go sox. to all you people out there who want to see a great show, check the dates and come visit us at the city nearest you. you will not be disappointed. peace out.

relax relax relax
hello all,
well tour is over and i feel five years older. just in a more worn out way. content. we had a great time on the road. made some great friends...the mighty MC CHRIS, the shredderiferous HOUSE OF FOOLS, the soulful STREET TO NOWHERE, and of course, the JOSH GROGAN!
the journey was very successful in other ways also. we traveled about 14000 miles and spent less than $400 on diesel fuel. for those of you who just read that and have no idea what i am talking about, here goes: we run our van on waste vegetable oil. we collect it from behind restaurants, usually asian restaurants, but we have collected usable grease from all types. we have installed a tank that aaron designed that can carry about 200 gallons of filtered grease. the filtration takes place when you pour the grease into the tank: there are sock filters that catch all the dirts and particles that are in the waste grease. well that is a short version but we are very excited about the money we saved, the diesel fuel we didn't buy, the cleanness of our exhaust, and the prospect of many other types of renewable resources.
moving on, we are starting another tour is just a few short weeks. we are direct support for mewithoutyou. we toured with them in october and november of last year and found that they were a great band of genuinely incredible people. not to mention that they are greasers like us. i cant wait to see them all again.
so keep your eyes peeled for a visit from the 'bald to your city. we'll be there soon. good times...

the world is a crazy place...
we played an instore yesterday at park ave cds at university of central florida. it was great fun. thanks to all of you who came out. orlando, west palm beach, and texas before that were all great times as well. lots of friends and familiar faces. we are nearing the end of this road journey, only about two weeks left. heading north up the east coast. we are tired but still kicking out the jams.
it wont be long before we hit the road again. a tour with mewithoutyou starts in a month so keep your eyes and ears peeled. three weeks to relax, breathe, and rejuvenate (sp?).
i have recently finished a book called the cider house rules by john irving. i cant stop thinking about the characters and their predicaments. john irving has made some great books. always takes me to a place where i really feel something for all the characters. plus he always seems to indentify with the new englander, which is what i am. props to mr. irving.
as we drove to jacksonville yesterday we were listening to the news about the shooting in blacksburg. a very sad and disturbing event, as i have been to blacksburg and even played virginia tech. our apologies and thoughts go out to all involved. even the killer, cause that poor guy was lost. too bad the world is like this. just sad. moment of silence...

i hope all is well with you and yours. give hugs freely to those who deserve them and those who dont. i am not wrong. see you on the road.

a few weeks down, a few weeks to go...
hello people,
we rolled into el paso a few hours ago and we are holed up in a comfort suites. i just used the hot tub and my brain and body have been made tired by the heat and the all day drive that came before. i will have a good sleep.
today was easter and our easter feast was pizza, salad and beer. but at least we had company. mike has been traveling with us since san fran so we stopped by his sisters place in tucson. it was a relaxing stop in the middle of the day. happy easter to all.
shows have been good and i am excited to get to and play in austin on tuesday. i love that city. always a good time. and mike has been drawing me my long awaited ice cream tattoo. it is looking good. i have a deep respect and love for that dessert. ever noticed how it makes people feel like children. there is something youthful about ice cream. you just cant be unhappy while eating it. impossible. really...try it...i promise.
well, i think my brain has reached shut off time and my body quit a while ago so i got to be doing the sleep thing. i hope that all of you are well and that you are doing what you want to be doing. have a good night. happy easter and passover to all. see you on the road...

hello people,
it has been a long time since i posted anything and here we are two weeks deep into a tour. a lot has happened, a lot of shows have been played and a lot of friends have been made. we are out with the almighty MC CHRIS. we have even been his backing band for a song. we are trying to work out more collaborative efforts so just give us a couple days. and our other tour mates are STREET TO NOWHERE. great band, good dudes. all considered we are on a great tour.
right now we are outside of sacramento in super 8 motel. waking showering and getting ready to leave. i will say that i am a tired gent lately but that is life on the road. tonight we play at the rickshaw stop in san francisco. so we had better see all you san franciscans there. and that goes for every other stop on the road. come out people, we love you and we rule. and thanks to all of you guys who have come out so far. we appreciate the dancing and hip shaking that you have been bringing. good work. until next time. hugs from us to you.

on the road again...
hello peoples of the united states,
i am not including other peoples because this has little to do with them. unless they are in the u.s. over the next month in a half. i am writing this to announce that we...PIEBALD...start a six week tour tomorrow in buffalo. we are excited to be heading out on the road again. we will be playing some new songs from the ACCIDENTAL GENTLEMEN record and some old songs...all the way back to WHEN LIFE HANDS YOU LEMONS. and then of course there are lots in between. we have been dilligently practicing, doing laundry and preparing our van, THOR, for the journey that is about to begin. it seems as though we will be leaving massachusetts in a time of snow storm and aaron has predicted our imminent demise because of said snow storm but i am remaining positive. being an LA resident these days i am now more accustomed (sp?) to a life of sun and warmth. but my roots and heart are all new england and we have all lived through this and driven through this before. i am actually excited about a snow journey to the mighty northern land of buffalo. so this post is just a friendly reminder to check our tour dates and be part of the best thing that your eyes and ears will see this year. come watch the four gents rip. and rip we will. see you on the road.

its a new year...
and here we are through half a month already. that means that a 24th of the year is over already. its moving quick. but i have decided that each year is a smaller fraction of my life so the years are just going to go by faster and faster. i guess when (and if) i am 80 a year will be like blinking. so lots of stuff is going on in the life of the 'bald. a new record in less than two weeks. i have seen the official copies and they look...ummm...official. yeah thats it. anyway, it is a very exciting time. and once again the plug...ACCIDENTAL GENTLEMEN comes out on JANUARY 23RD. and around the release week we got a lot going on. i will be playing acoustically on the 18th at zuzu (in between the middle easts) with jake brennan. some of us will be on WFNX on sunday the 20th. we have shows upstairs at the middle east on release day and in worcester at the qvcc on the 24th. they will be more like parties than shows because it is celebration time. i hope that it is like a sporting event and i am like a coach that gets the gatorade dumped on him because we won the title. huh? and i/we are doing two newbury comics instores the week of the release also. we have been working on a video for the second song on the record. it is titled a friend of mine and is about a friend of mine. ha. we did lots of filming a few weekends ago and now the editing process is underway. thanks to mike p for being the subject matter and mike g for directing and creating the masterpiece. thanks to all who came out to the boston filming when we needed some extra peeps. we appreciate it. i cant wait to see the finished product. i think i am going to laugh so very hard.
well, i hope you are all making the '07 a good year. only 23 24ths to go. better make it good. see you in boston. go pats!
